The original and still the best, if you want to simplify your life then read every article on this site.
This is a great resource for personal financial advice, guides to financial freedom, and introductions to passive investing. Everyone should have a basic knowledge of investing, and specifically passive index trackers. On the home page take a look at the key articles on the right hand side of the home page. Some of my favourite articles below:
– Investing for beginners
– Why you must get out and stay out of debt
– A mortgage is money rented from a bank
The last one really makes you questions the status quo – especially living in London. People are obsessed with housing. My personal favourtite quote: “Sadly, Maslow didn’t tell us where ‘ability to hammer a nail into own wall’ or ‘can take part in house price bragging’ fitted into his pyramid. He lived in simpler times.”
Here’s another article on the rent vs buy debate.
UK based personal finance website.
US based, this financial freedom website has a plethora of excellent articles.
– Great article on dealing with bad times
– Stoicism, and how it is important today more than ever
A cracking article on the problems with forecasting financial performance, showing that experts just don’t get it right.
A great starting place for veganism.
A list of counter arguments to the usual vegan-bingo. A staunch non-vegan will usually say something along the lines of “BUt WheRE Do yOU GeT yoUR pROteIN” (almost inevitably from someone in far worse shape then you) or “But HuMANs HAvE CaNinES wE ARe HUnTers” (again, usually from someone with an extra 20kgs of bodyweight).
Must be pointed out though that almost every vegan started out as someone with the above queries. No one is born with the knowledge, it takes time and patience to educate and help people.
Entitled ‘Neville’s Digital Surrogate Brain’, this site is a great resoucre of how-to articles on a wide variety of topics. Neville is an entrepreneur and runs several successful businesses – take a look at the ‘Some Articles’ on the right hand side of the page.
The inspiration for my site. Everyone should have a personal site, and this was the one that got me thinking it’s about time I set mine up.
The subject of an article on this site, I interviewed Tom on his progress towards a happy and free life:
The Amazing Series #1 – The Lorry Life
I wonder how many Medium links I will end up having on here. Medium is such a great website for in depth articles, I would highly recommend just having a look at the home page and seeing what you find.
This particular link is one explaining how a common approach to sorting problems, travel, does’t actually solve anything. Without focusing the mind on solving underlying issues, unhappiness will follow you whatever you do.
We tend to grossly overestimate the pleasure brought forth by new experiences and underestimate the power of finding meaning in current ones. Or in the words of Socrates, “How can you wonder your travels do you no good, when you carry yourself around with you?”.
A fantastic resource for keeping track of everything you’ve read. I am a minimalist and donated my large book collection to charity, having a virtual library really helps to declutter. It also means you can add books into the ‘to be read’ section. Plus there is a great group ‘What’s the name of that book..’, you post what you can remember and other members can help you out.
Thinking of hiring a freelancer? This is the best place to do it. Post a job, budget and time-frame then review applications at your leisure.
Screen sharing resource. Very fast to download and as easy to use as it gets.
Open the software, give your unique code to whoever you are screen sharing with, they input into their software, and done.

Front page of the internet! Reddit homepage isn’t much use, but to truly get the heart of a matter I will always google e.g. ‘Reddit – American thoughts on Trump’ or ‘Reddit – veganism debate’.
For some reason the Reddit platform really encourages people their true feelings and insights on a matter.
A great game for timewasting, FPS that looks like minecraft.
Another great game – become the largest snake in the server! Bit of trivia, the game was so successful the creator ended up making over $100k a day.
Amazing website showing map distortion. Click ‘clear map’ at the top left and then type in a country you want to analyse. the closer you bring it to the equator, the more accurately you see a country’s actual scale. Fascinating.
Great website for several purposes:
1. Read articles for other website without distractions, i.e. just see article text not adverts or links to other articles.
2. To get past paywalls – put the article Url in the box and read for free (doesn’t work for all sites, but does for e.g. the FT). If you are regularly reading these sites then do get a subscription though!
If you are someone who likes to send a fresh meme to suit any occasion, this site should be your go-to.
It can be tricky to find historical exchange rates for free – this site has it all. Use the drop-down menus to select currencies, dates, etc, then click Go! and scroll down to find tables of data.
Domain name says it all.
Clever little tool to show public transport travel times, from or to a chosen postcode, on a timebanded map. Because when it comes to travel, time matters more than distance.
